As well as the above, we provide bespoke illustration, photography and print management services.
Whilst every project is different, certain elements of the design process remain consistent;
Following an initial project discussion(s), an estimate is raised and sent to the client, along with any other relevant supporting material.
Once designer and client are happy that the aim of the project is understood and costs have been agreed, the design process can begin, ensuring regular communication as work progresses.
Visuals are produced to agreed deadlines with the client encouraged to provide feedback once all relevant stakeholders have been consulted. Revisions are actioned and updated visuals created.
The development process continues until the client is happy with the design(s). Once completed, work is supplied to the agreed deadlines and in the required format(s).
With diversity and inclusion playing an ever increasing role in business decision-making and policy, Cactus continues to be approached by a number of organisations to help make their publications more accessible.
This can seem like a daunting task for companies with well established brand guidelines that were created at a time when such considerations may not have been the priority. Our advice is that wholesale change from the outset is not necessarily the answer.
Initially, relatively small but significant changes can be made to allow those with conditions such as visual impairment, colour blindness, dyslexia and autism to access published material, be it online or in printed format.
Cactus can assess your existing guidelines and make recommendations as to how to improve accessibility, such as typeface choices, size of font(s), colour contrast, page hierarchy, presentation of data etc. Over time, such changes can be further developed and incorporated into the organisation’s guidelines and creative output.
In our experience, such a process can also result in associated benefits for the company concerned – opening up the company’s communications and offerings to new audiences whilst positively influencing both internal culture and external brand.
